Kangna Ranaut Biography

With a few films done, Kangna Ranaut, is one of the freshest faces of the film industry. Born in a small town named Bhambla, in Himachal Pradesh, it was her passion for acting which made her move to Delhi where she did theatre and learnt acting simultaneously.
All of just 20 years, Kangna was born on 20th March 1987. She did most of her schooling from Shimla. She studied science and aspired to become a doctor. Kangna has an elder sister named Rangoli. Ranaut's father is a businessman and her mother is a school teacher.
Moving to Mumbai was the turning point in the life of this beauty. But it was tough getting into the glam world without any contacts. One day in 2005, director Anurag Basu saw Kangna at a caf� in Mumbai and called her for an audition for the film Gangster. Tough she had no previous acting experience, she was chosen for the lead role, and the rest is history.
Kangana has done only a handful of films till date which include Ganster (2006), Who Lamhe (2006) Shaka Laka Boom Boom (2007) and Life In A Metro (2007). Her roles have been substancial and greatle appreciated by everyone. She has even received about 7 awards for the best promising debutant for Gangster in prestigious events like Filmfare, IIFA and Zee Cine Awards.
Fortunately for Kangna, things have fallen into place perfectly. She has so far worked with talented artists like Shilpa Shetty, Kay Kay Menon, Konkona Sen Sharma and Irfan Khan. She is now lookin forward to doing a second film with actor Bobby Deol (after Shakalaka Boom Boom). The film is titled “Roshni” and will be directed by Samir Karnik.
On the professional front, Kangana is a quiet girl who prefers to do performance oriented roles. On a personal front, she loves her family a lot. In the end of 2006, there were reports that Kangna’s sister, Rangoli was acid attacked by some unknown people in Dehradun. She suffered burnts on her face and body.
At present, Kangna is learning classical singing to improve her dialogue delivery. She is a chic girl with a sensible style of dressing. Even at the recently held IIFA awards, she was a show stealer.
