She was born without any connections in Bollywood, but her sheer diction to become a Hindi film heroine has made Nisha Kothari a known face in the industry.
Her real name being Priyanka Kothari, Nisha was born in Kolkata and grew up speaking Hindi English and Bengali. She did her schooling till class 10 in Kolkata and then shifted to Delhi where she graduated in Chemistry.
Nisha, nicknamed Amoga, began her career in the showbiz with modeling. She then did her debut Tamil film “Jay Jay”, in 2003. Till then, she called herself Amoga. It was famous director Ram Gopal Varma who actually discovered fresh talent in this aspiring heroine.
“Sarkar” and “James” were Nisha’s Hindi debut films. While she played a small the role of a film actress, Sapna in ‘Sarkar”, in “James”, her role is of a popular model named Nisha. Both the films, though churned out of the RGV camp, have nothing new or exciting to tell. Even Nisha did not succeed in making a mark with such big budgeted films.
In 2006, Nisha was seen joining the Bhatt camp. She did “The Killer” opposite Emraan Hashmi. The film had a good cast including Irfan Khan and Zakir Hussain but again failed to attract the audience to the theatre. It was just about average. She also made a guest appearance in the 2006 released “Darna Zaroori hai”.
In the near future, the audience will see more of Nisha in films like “Ram Gopal Varma Ki Sholay” and “Zabardast”. While “Sholay” will include big stars like Ajay Devgan, Sushmita Sen, Boman Iraani and Raajpal Yaadav, Nisha will play the role of Basanti. News is that Ajay will be seen doing a steamy song with Nisha in “Ram Gopal Varma Ki Sholay”. In “Zabardast”, Nisha will in the main lead, opposite Karan Nath.
Ms. Kothari feels that an actress should be a complete package of good acting and a great body. An amazing chemistry between her co-actors and of course an ability to remember dialogues easily are also her assets. Though she hasn’t made an unforgettable mark till now, she will surely go places with her determination.
