Virna Lisi - Italian Actress

Virna Lisi (born September 8, 1937) is a Cannes and César award-winning Italian film actress.

Lisi was born in Ancona, Marche, as Virna Lisa Pieralisi.

Virna Lisi began her film career in her teens. She was discovered by two Neapolitan producers (Antonio Ferrigno and Ettore Pesce) in Paris. Her debut was in La corda d'acciaio (The line of steel, 1953). Initially, she did musical films, like in E Napoli canta (Napoli sings, 1953) and the successful Questa è la vita (1954, with the popular Totò). Nonetheless, soon Virna Lisi became a figure whose beauty was more valued than her talent, like in Le diciottenni and Lo scapolo films of 1955. Still, she incarnated demanding roles, particularly in La Donna del Giorno (1956), Eva (1962), and the Italian-made spectacle Romolo e Remo (1961).

In the late 1950s, Lisi did theater at Piccolo Teatro di Milano, in I giacobini by Federico Zardi, under the direction of Giorgio Strehler. During the 1960s, Virna Lisi did comedies and, also, she participated in dramatic television productions which were of the most viewed in Italy. Also in television Lisi was the figure who promoted a toothpaste brand, with a slogan which would become a catchphrase amongst the Italians: "con quella bocca può dire ciò che vuole" (with such mouth, she can say whatever she wants).

Ranbir and Katrina’s Crackling Chemistry!

The promos of Rajkumar Santoshi’s Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani are creating waves all across the world thanks to the crackling chemistry between the ‘cute’ couple of Ranbir and Katrina.

The film is going hit the screens on 6th November and the organizers promise us that its going to be a joyride and an eye-candy all
at once.
“Ajab… is even more hilarious than Andaz Apna Apna,” said producer Ramesh Taurani, “in fact, if Andaz had comedy, Ajab has comedy and romance in it.”

Telling us why they chose Ranbir and Katrina, director Rajkumar Santoshi said, “The film required a fresh pair. We were very impressed with Ranbir and Katrina. They have great screen presence and their fans will love them in this film.”

Ranbir says he and Katrina got along from the day one like a house on fire. Telling her about how he finds working with her Ranbir says, “Don’t go by her looks, she’s a bully.”

Katrina says, “People across all sections will be able to relate to this film.” The music, too, is catching on with audiences and topping charts, especially the song Tera Hone Laaga Hoon, which was not at all choreographed say the filmmakers.

“The song wasn’t choreographed as such. The two were told to be natural and their screen presence added magic to the song,” they said.

I’m gonna watchout for this one!

Looking 20 at 44: Aamir Khan in 3 Idiots

Just happened to see the trailer of 3 Idiots and I was surprised to see Aamir look so young. Its amazing how he has managed to play a 20yr old at 44, with so much of zeal and elan.

Apart from the face, even the lean look, the hairstyle, body language, gait and even mannerisms. Aamir seems have worked on everything to make his character
look real on screen.
The best thing about Aamir whenever he takes up a role and involves himself in it, he completely leaves out traces of his own personality out. He is so effortless and natural with his acting that you never feel you are watching a ’superstar enact the role’ as it happens with say Shahrukh and Salman who just cannot forget their ’superstar’ tag for even once while acting – its so evident in their performances!

You never feel that you have seen Aamir in a similar performance before. It is probably this passion that makes him undoubtedly the best actor in India. Not about rivalries folks but professionally – as an actor, on grounds of passion, dedication and hard-work – Aamir definitely has an edge over all the other actors!
Agree?

I’m No Less Than a Single: Aishwarya Rai

Aishwarya Rai tells us she is as good as a single actress even if she has been married. She thinks being married doesn’t make her any less professional or any less prettier than the others. Here are some excerpts from an interview.

She’s had the tag of The Most Beautiful Woman in India and
World for long but Aishwarya confesses she is not very good with handling compliments she says,

“I’m not very good at handling compliments but I accept it with grace. I’m grateful to God, my audiences and my filmmakers —be it Mani Ratnam, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Mansoor Khan, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Ram Gopal Varma, Raj Kumar Santoshi, Aditya Chopra and others who never used just my beauty as the fulcrum. Instead, they kept the beauty and the aesthetics going at the same time in each ofthe film characters I played.”

So how much has marriage changed things on career front? And Aishwarya tells us gone are the days when an actress’ career is finished after marriage.

“These are the same filmmakers I have worked with in the beginning of my career. I got married in the middle of shooting Jodhaa Akbar and when I reported back on his set, Ashu told me that nothing has changed. It just meant so much more hard work for me because when I come to the work front, I don’t want anyone to think of me as being any less professional than I was when I was single. It was important for me to strike the right balance between home and work. Allthe film -makers I’m working with are super passionate about their work. Thanks to them, I still feel the same adrenaline rush that I always feel when I’m on set.”

Leaving career aside, ask Aishwarya when she is planning to start a family considering she is going to turn 36 tomorrow with the biological clock ticking faster than ever. And she says,

“When I was on the Oprah Winfrey show, I told her that every time there is even a bump, it is assumed that I’m with child. Being pregnant is not something one can conceal. When I am pregnant, the world will know.”

Certainly!
